This chabura will explore both the theory and practice of Jewish meditation. Topics will include: Meditation in classical Jewish sources; meditation in prayer; Daily mindfulness (laws of blessings and personal interactions); Chassidic meditation techniques. Texts will include: Mishna, Rambam, Shulchan Arukh and Chassidut.

Daniel Raphael Silverstein is a rabbi, educator, meditation teacher and poet who has facilitated, performed and taught throughout Europe and the US. Daniel was selected by the Jewish Week as one of the 36 young leaders “remaking the Jewish community” and has contributed to the Jerusalem Post, the Jewish Chronicle and the Huffington Post among others. He recently moved to Israel from Palo Alto, where he was Director of Jewish Life and Learning for Hillel at Stanford University. Daniel studied Literature and Social & Political Sciences at Cambridge (BA), and International Relations at Warwick (MA). He completed the Jewish Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Course, a 16-month journey through many kinds of meditative and pedagogical practices, which is a collaboration between the Institute for Jewish Spirituality and the Awakened Heart Project.
